Transferrin assay is intended for the quantitative determination of human transferrin by immunoturbidimetric assay. The antiserum used in the kit was produced against purified human transferrin. The transferrin antibody interacts with the transferrin in the serum forming immune complexes. The immune complexes cause an increase in light scattering, which correlates with the concentration of serum transferrin.
Transferrin has been measured using a variety of methods, including radial immunodiffusion and immunoassay. Transferrin assay uses an immunoturbidimetric assay format.
