Sekisui Diagnostics PEI was the title sponsor for the Motionball Marathon of Sport for the first time on 22-Oct-2022! Motionball is a national non-profit organization that empowers young Canadians to be leaders in their communities, raising funds, and awareness for Special Olympics through inclusive social and sporting events. It works to ensure that individuals with intellectual disabilities living in PEI are included, supported, and celebrated.
This day not only brings awareness to the Special Olympics movement but allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build lifelong friendships, and ultimately create more inclusive communities. Motionball is working to promote positivity and inclusion, demonstrating that there is #NoGoodWay to use the “r-word” (retard). This word is hurtful, outdated, and brings back memories of being bullied and excluded for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Ben MacDonald (Executive Director, Motionball PEI) and his team did an amazing job to successfully organize this event and raise funds for such a wonderful organization. The Special Olympic athletes made the day so special with their energy and spirit!
Motionball 2022 raised $32,000 for Special Olympics PEI! Sekisui Diagnostics had 16 players (two teams) and 7 volunteers join in this event! It was a great day of fun, new friendships, and positivity!
