Sekisui Diagnostics is looking for an experienced Associate Scientist, with expert technical knowledge to join our R&D Downstream Team in Kent.
As an Associate Scientist you will contribute your expertise to independently formulating hypotheses, whilst defining and implementing an overall scientific/technical strategy to meet objectives. You will collaboratively engage with colleagues in a small team of Scientists and Technicians, while delivering an exceptional quality of data and scientific support to our customers.

To succeed in this role, you will need a positive and collaborative attitude, and a dedicated and meticulous approach to work, supported by a strong base of knowledge in Downstream processing to achieve rapid and efficient project progress.
Skills and experience in the following areas will be required:
– Preparation of solutions, accurate pipetting, and basic measurements such as pH or conductivity.
– Protein recovery and purification techniques (cell lysis, protein extraction/recovery, chromatography using ÄKTA or similar systems with different functional separation chemistries, ultrafiltration and diafiltration, freeze-drying).
– Basic analytical techniques (protein concentration, SDS-PAGE, functional activity/titre assays).
– Use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for the analysis, manipulation, and presentation of data.
A BSc level in Bioscience/Biochemistry with some relevant work experience of Downstream process development in a bioscience-based company and within a CDMO business environment, is preferable for this role.
